Terms of Use

The terms that govern your purchase and use of the CommentTrail browser extension.

Last updated: July 23, 2026

01. Agreement

These Terms of Use govern your purchase and use of CommentTrail, a Google Chrome desktop extension provided by EEEY SpA, a company organized under the laws of Chile.

By purchasing, installing, or using CommentTrail, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the extension.

02. What CommentTrail does

CommentTrail helps you find, filter, highlight, and navigate comments and messages displayed on supported websites, including Substack.

CommentTrail only works with content that is already available to you in your browser. It does not provide access to private, restricted, or paid content that you are not otherwise authorized to view.

CommentTrail is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Substack or Google.

03. License

Your purchase grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use CommentTrail.

Each license is for one individual person and may be active on one device that person owns or controls.

You may not:

  • share your license with another person;
  • resell, sublicense, copy, or redistribute CommentTrail;
  • bypass its payment, activation, or security mechanisms;
  • reverse engineer or attempt to obtain its source code, except where applicable law expressly allows it;
  • use CommentTrail to access content without authorization or violate applicable laws or third-party rights.

Each additional user requires a separate license.

04. Supported environment

CommentTrail is developed and tested for the desktop version of Google Chrome.

It has not been designed or tested for:

  • mobile devices;
  • mobile versions of Chrome;
  • other browsers, including Chromium-based browsers;
  • unsupported or outdated versions of Chrome.

Use outside the supported environment is at your own risk and may not work correctly.

05. Purchases and license activation

CommentTrail may be sold through a one-time payment. The final price, currency, taxes, and included features are shown before checkout.

Payments may be processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record and may handle payment processing, taxes, invoices, refunds, and chargebacks.

CommentTrail may use your email address, purchase information, or a license key to validate your purchase. License keys may be subject to reasonable activation limits intended to prevent sharing or abuse.

We do not directly store your complete credit-card information.

06. Lifetime access

Where CommentTrail is advertised as a lifetime purchase, this means access for the commercial lifetime of the CommentTrail product.

It does not guarantee:

  • that CommentTrail will operate forever;
  • compatibility with every future version of Chrome or Substack;
  • that every current feature will remain unchanged;
  • support for the lifetime of the purchaser.

We intend to maintain CommentTrail in good faith. However, its continued operation may depend on changes made by Chrome, Substack, other third parties, technical feasibility, legal requirements, and reasonable operating costs.

07. Refunds

Refund requests may be submitted to hello@commenttrail.com.

Refunds will be assessed in good faith, considering applicable consumer law, the reason for the request, whether the license has been activated or substantially used, and the procedures of the payment provider.

Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you. Chilean consumers may have statutory rights in electronic transactions, including rights related to information, confirmation of contract terms, and withdrawal in applicable cases.

08. Privacy

CommentTrail processes supported webpage content locally in your browser.

We do not collect, store, sell, or transmit the contents of the comments, chats, posts, or pages you view through the extension.

We may process limited information required to complete purchases, validate licenses, prevent abuse, and provide support, as explained in our Privacy Policy.

CommentTrail requests only the browser access reasonably necessary for its disclosed functionality. Chrome Web Store policies require extension data use and permissions to remain limited to the extension’s stated purpose.

09. Third-party websites

CommentTrail operates on third-party websites that we do not own or control.

Those websites may change their design, code, access rules, policies, or availability without notice. These changes may temporarily or permanently affect CommentTrail.

You remain responsible for complying with the terms, privacy rules, intellectual-property rights, and access restrictions of the websites you use.

CommentTrail does not authorize you to bypass paywalls, authentication, privacy settings, or other access controls.

10. Updates and availability

We may update CommentTrail to correct errors, improve security, adapt to third-party changes, or add, modify, or remove features.

We do not guarantee that CommentTrail will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or able to identify every relevant comment or message.

We may suspend or discontinue CommentTrail when reasonably necessary because of security issues, legal obligations, third-party platform changes, technical infeasibility, abuse, or discontinuation of the product.

Where practicable, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users of a permanent discontinuation.

11. Intellectual property

CommentTrail, including its software, code, design, branding, text, graphics, and documentation, is owned by or licensed to EEEY SpA and is protected by applicable law.

Your purchase grants you permission to use CommentTrail. It does not transfer ownership of the extension or its intellectual property.

Third-party names, content, and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.

12. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

CommentTrail is provided “as is” and “as available.”

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that CommentTrail will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every website change, or suitable for every particular purpose.

EEEY SpA will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including loss of profits, opportunities, goodwill, or data, resulting from your use of CommentTrail or from changes or failures involving third-party services.

Except for liability that cannot legally be limited, our total liability relating to CommentTrail will not exceed the amount you paid for the license.

Nothing in this section limits mandatory rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or deactivate a license if it:

  • was obtained fraudulently;
  • has been refunded or charged back;
  • is being shared or resold;
  • is used to bypass technical or payment restrictions;
  • is used in material violation of these Terms.

Where reasonable, we may provide an opportunity to correct the issue before permanent termination.

You may stop using CommentTrail and uninstall it at any time.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to CommentTrail, payment arrangements, applicable law, security requirements, or third-party platforms.

The updated version will be published with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated through the website, extension, or email where reasonably practicable.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Chile, without limiting any mandatory consumer protections that apply in the country where you live.

The parties agree to first attempt to resolve disputes in good faith through written communication.

Where legally permitted, unresolved disputes will be submitted to the competent courts of Chile.
